Biography - Kimiko Kasai
Born in Kyoto, Japan
Determined to become a jazz vocalist while in her late teens, Kimiko began her musical career during the 1970's. She collaborated with established top musicians such as Gil Evans and Herbie Hancock on her albums and performances and eventually established herself among The elite of japan's singers and recording artests.

Kimiko has performed internationally in numerous international jazz music festivals, including New York's "New Port jazz Festival" with Hank Jones, as well as jazz music festivals in Hungary and Yugoslavia.

Her music career opened new opportunities as well. She appeared in several television commercials and became an image model for top Japanese corporations. Her endorsements include PARCO department store, Sanyo coat , Hitachi, Suntory and many others.

Kimiko was ranked number one for seven consecutive years as the most popular female jazz singer by the acclaimed Japanese jazz magazine, "Swing Journal".

1978 - Moved to Los Angeles. Traveled frequently between Japan and U.S. for live performances and recordings.
1987 - While still active in her music career, Kimiko graduated from the Gemological Institute of America, Santa Monica with a degree in jewelry design.
1990 - Signed an exclusive contract with a major Japanese jewelry company and created her own brand, "Kimiko by KIMIKO". She designed and produced her brand under this contract for 12 years.
1998 - Retired from her music career of 30 years with a total of 24 albums
2002 - Became an independent jewelry designer. Opened her own salon in Ginza, Japan to design, create and distribute her brand, "kimiko by KIMIKO". She continued to periodically create and introduce new designs. Kimiko and her brand receive media attention in numerous magazines.
2005 - Collaborated with Yokohama Masuda-gama (Japanese ceramics company) to create an original tableware line, with designs featuring platinum and 18 karat gold.
2006 - Founded "Kasai Kimiko Office". Moves her business base to Santa Monica but continues to travel to her Ginza office and introduce new jewelry designs. She now designs beautiful and enjoyable lifestyle items as well, such as tableware and watches.
